From the Vaults Rediscovered
Lost Literary Treasures of Burns and Scott

In 2020, some of the world’s most important literary treasures, which were thought lost, suddenly appeared at auction in the UK. Following a huge fundraising campaign led by the Friends of the National Libraries and endorsed by HM King Charles III, priceless treasures of Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott were brought home to Scotland for the public.

These treasures include Burns’s “First Commonplace Book” and the manuscript of “Rob Roy” in addition to rich collections of letters and poems of two of Scotland’s most significant literary figures.

Join Dr Ralph McLean, Manuscripts Curator at The National Library of Scotland and Amina Shah, National Librarian, to hear about this fascinating tale of the rediscovery and recovery of the Blavatnik Honresfield Library.
