The 14th Annual John Muir Golf Tournament, will be a “scramble,” using the Callaway system of scoring to decide eligibility for individual and team prizes.

The Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course is the oldest municipal course in the United States.  Designed by a Scottish Architect, it has recently undergone a complete restoration with challenging improvements and demands your best shot making.

Registration for golfers will be between 11:00 – 12pm - for a 12:15pm tee off.

The Awards BBQ to follow will start at 5:30pm. Additional Guest tickets are available.

The tournament is hosted by the American-Scottish Foundation® in association with the Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy and NYC Department of Parks & Recreation.

Proceeds will benefit the upkeep of the 1.7 mile John Muir Nature Trail, an important aspect of Van Cortlandt Park and community life.

The Trail, established in 1997 as the first east-west connecting trail in the park, was named for the renowned Scottish-born naturalist, John Muir, who is considered the “Father of American Conservation”.

John Muir was born in Dunbar, Scotland, on April 21, 1838, immigrating to Wisconsin as a child. He was Founding President of the Sierra Club, and instrumental in establishing the National Park System. Van Cortlandt Park has 1,146 acres of forest, wetlands and meadows with 13 miles of trails.
