An American Scottish Picnic and Hike

Experience the beauty of the Fall colors! Come picnic and hike the John Muir Nature Trail, led by one of the Van Cortlandt Park Rangers. Bring the family and enjoy the wonderful 1 1/2 mile trail.

Reserve to join us - savory boxed lunches and transport from Midtown NYC are included. The ASF seeks to help maintain the John Muir trail which it helped to create in 1997.

11.30am - Bus Departs from Midtown, NYC (optional, please advise if required. Meet at 11.15am at the steps of The Arsenal, Central Park, which is centered on 64th Street off Fifth Avenue. Dogs may be brought on the bus, but only when hand carried i.e. in a carrier.)

12.00pm - Meeting point : The Stables Parking Lot, Van Cortlandt Park
(Enter the Park at Broadway & Mosholu Ave. Dress for the outdoors)

12.00-1.00pm - Picnic lunch

1.00pm - Hike

Requested contributions are $35 per adult ($27.50 if no transport required) and $10 per child. Please download, complete and return a reservation form here.

Note: the reservation form includes an opportunity to join the "Early Morning Pitch In" from 10.00am. Volunteers are encouraged to join with the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park to help weed and plant along the Trail. This work is voluntary and Van Cortlandt Park will be grateful for all assistance prior to your joining the day's Picnic and Hike.
